Ani is one of those people who makes every day at Tango Academy lighter. We share a lot of laughs, teach side by side, and somehow turn even a normal class night into something full of energy and fun. She’s bright, quick, and brilliant to be around. We’ve travelled together too, and she brings the same spark on the road as she does on the floor.

Ani Meskhi is a Tbilisi-based Argentine tango dancer and teacher, and Director of Tango Academy, one of the city’s best-known tango schools and community spaces. At Tango Academy, she leads a friendly, structured program that takes dancers from first steps to confident social dancing, with a clear focus on technique, musicality, and connection.

Ani’s style is direct, musical, and generous. She has a talent for breaking down the details that matter most in social tango: how to walk with intention, how to stay comfortable in the embrace, how to hear phrasing, and how to make movement feel effortless without losing precision. Her classes are known for being welcoming and high-energy, with a strong emphasis on the practical skills that make milongas enjoyable for both leaders and followers.

Beyond weekly classes, Ani is also active as an organiser and ambassador for the local scene which includes her festival Georgian Tango Encuentro. Through her work with Tango Academy and her wider projects, she helps keep Tbilisi connected to the international tango world, hosting visiting teachers, supporting performances, and creating spaces where dancers can train, socialise, and grow together.

Today, Ani continues to teach and perform from her home base at Tango Academy in Tbilisi, building a community where the standard stays high, the vibe stays warm, and tango stays alive week after week.
